Kenneth R. Steinhilber - October 13, 2003

Kenneth R. Steinhilber, 75, a resident of Heritage Manor, El Paso, and formerly of 217 W. First, Minonk, died at 10:10 a.m. Monday (Oct. 13, 2003) at the nursing home.

His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Calvert & Froelich Memorial Home, Minonk Chapel, with the Rev. Connie Jenkins officiating. Burial will follow in Minonk Township Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and for one hour prior to the service on Thursday.

Memorial contributions may be made to Heritage Manor, El Paso, or to the Minonk Food Pantry.

Mr. Steinhilber was born July 10, 1928, in rural Minonk, a son of William and Mary Schleicher Steinhilber. He married Ruth Nix on Jan. 14, 1967, in Minonk. She survives.

Also surviving are three sons, Dan (Dawn) Steinhilber, Minonk; Dennis (Candi) Steinhilber, Gardner; and Michael (Tanya) Steinhilber, Granite City; a daughter, Patty (Jeff) Rients, Flanagan; a brother, George (Mary) Steinhilber, Minonk; and a sister, Betty Steinhilber, Minonk; five granddaughters, Jessica and Jenna Rients, Sarah, Jackie and Mary Steinhilber; and three grandsons, Aaron Paquette; and David and Mike Steinhilber.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.

Mr. Steinhilber was a member of the Minonk United Methodist Church and the Minonk American Legion Post. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He worked for a number of years as a welder at Interlake in Pontiac, retiring in 1986. Prior to that he had worked in several farm-related positions.
